About Ron McCombe

Hi My name is Ron McCombe, this is my blog, please take a look and contribute if you feel the urge.

I was born in 1954 in Glasgow and have been photographing wildlife seriously for nearly ten years. I won the title Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year in its inaugural year 2010, and have won many other awards for my photography. My work is mainly in Scotland, traveling from my home in the Borders to Shetland, the Highlands and the Isle of Mull, the Farne Islands and spend considerable time near my home in the Borders photographing the local wildlife. I organize workshops and deliver illustrated talks on birds and wildlife. I contribute to three image libraries, Getty Images, Alamy and OKAPA based in Germany.

My work has been featured in many magazines and publication and I have written just one book so far entitled “Wildlife through my Viewfinder” which is a collection of photographs and the stories behind them.

I think you will agree there are some great birding sites and even greater opportunities for photography close to my home in Coldstream.
