Red Squirrel Sciurus vulgaris Northumberland

I had an opportunity to visit a private site to hopefully get some images of the delightful red squirrel. The weather was abysmal with heavy rain and the light ranging from poor to terrible causing a few exposure problems, but nothing that couldn’t be overcome. We were visited by two red squirrels during the morning session. This woodland seems to be a stronghold for the red squirrel with no evidence of the the destructive grey squirrel.

I always delight in the presence of a red squirrel, I find just watching them an uplifting experience as they hop around searching the area looking for food.

Here are a few images of the morning in their company.
