More Brown Hares

I was again out looking for Brown Hares, I have been looking for them for some time. I have been trying to find groups of them to get a chance of seeing them boxing. I can only find singles or pairs, I really want to fond a group of 5 pr 6 including 2 0r 3 does to fight off the amorous bucks.

I dont know to much about hares and cannot work out whether they are still lying low due to the continuous freezing weather or whether the big freeze has killed them off. I suppose time will tell.

These are the pictures from today. The bottom two are in the late afternoon sunlight

About Ron McCombe

I live in the Scottish Borders near Coldstream and like to photograph the local wildlife. Northumberland and South East Scotland have an abundance of natural history with sites such as Bass Rock, The Farne Islands, Holy Island and the Lammermuir Hills. I have also traveled extensively throughout Europe, visiting Norway Sweden, Finland, Poland and Spain. I have also traveled the USA and Canada. But I have to say I prefer Scotland, the lowlands, the highland and islands, Scotland has an abundance of wildlife to be photographed and enjoyed. I like to visit the Isle of Mull when I can, the wildlife and the scenery is stunning, some great species here to photograph, white tailed eagles, otters and red deer to name but a few. You should come along and take a look Ron
