High key Red Grouse at Longformacus, Scottish Borders

Another drop of snow overnight, this is three weeks now, very unusual for us in the Borders to have snow for this length of time. I went  looking for the red grouse again. This time I found them in low lying ground to the south of Longformacus. There were large numbers feeding on the longer heather stems, somewhere in the region of 500 birds.

The light was poor and the birds were back lit which made exposure quite difficult. f4 at 1/1000 sec + 1 stop compensation.
