I took these pictures of a skylark when I was on the Lammermuir Hills last week looking for the wheatear. The birds were flying around in a courtship ritual and one of them jumped up off the ground, landed on the fencepost and started displaying. The whole thing lasted a few seconds only and then it flew away again. This is another one of these little brown birds that people dismiss as being bland and boring, but when you get a good view of them they are very beautiful, and their in flight song is unbelievable. This is the second post with roe deer as the subject, it has become a project of mine. they have been difficult to get to close to, these flighty little deer. I have found a site quite close to home which gives me access to a small herd of roe deer and I will be spending some time there hopefully getting some outstanding images of the deer.
