A Morning at Chester Zoo

I was at Chester Zoo to pick up an award from the Royal Photographic Society. The event was in the afternoon which meant I had time to go the see the animals in the zoo itself, this is something I haven’t done for many years and I quite enjoyed myself. I took pictures of various animals, I wasn’t impressed with many of them, but I did get some nice ones of the tiger. These are the pictures I like. Let me know what you think

A brief visit to Leighton Moss RSPB

I have been down in Cheshire for the weekend. On the way home I called into a old stomping ground of mine, Leighton Moss RSPB. I used to visit here regularly when I lived in Blackburn Lancashire. I couldn’t stay too long so I went to the outer hides, the Allen Hide and the Eric Morecambe Hide. It was pretty quiet really, there was a large flock of black-tailed godwits  redshank, there was eight little egrets present, a buzzard sat on a fence out on the marsh and two great white egrets which had been on the reserve for a while, they were a long way out on the marsh. Raddes Warbler Holy Island

I got these pictures of the Raddie’s Warbler today, this is quite a rare bird, the pictures are quite poor, probably the worst ones I have ever taken of a bird but it does show very well the peachy coloured rump which is diagnostic of the Raddie’s Warbler

Roe Dear near Swinton Berwickshire

I was driving home through he back roads this afternoon and I saw a small heard of roe dear in the middle of a field near to Swinton in Berwickshire, which is quite lose to my home. I stopped and did a mini stalk to get closer and managed to get these pictures. Not sparkling, but not bad either.
