Kittiwakes St. Abbs NNR Borders Scotland
I was lookng for more pictures of kittiwakes so I went up to St Abbs early this morning the light was quite good and I got these pictures using the canon 500mm f4 lens mounted on a tripod. I find it quite difficult to get pictures of any value like this, but I suppose practice makes perfect

The Rare Bord Alert pager was sounding this afternoon, it been quiet latley and iy told me of a bluethroat on Holy Island. I was down at Bamburgh, so I went to the island. I got there 30 mins later and my old mate Colin was there. (I haven’t known him very long, he is just old) The bird was a long way away. a mere spec in the distance we waited for some time before it cam closer. The problem was it was between us and the very strong sun a bout 70 to 80 metres away. So these are the pictures such as they are.

I went down to Cresswell Northumberland Wildlife Trust Reserve at Druridge Bay. I was thinking the barn owl might be showing after all the windy weather we have had in the past few days. (They don’t like flying in the wind). The weather was very nice, the light was fabulous. I parked in the usual place at the car park down near the hide. I started to get my camera gear set up and I heard a sedge warbler going for it on the large clump of scrub. I went back to Cocklawburn this afternoon. I was interested in the sandwich terns that seem to congregate there at high tide. I watched them fishing and returning to feed their mate roosting at the high tide mark. They where alittle close to me as they flew past and it was difficult to get the shots I was looking for. While is was watching the terns there was a male wheatear in the vicinity, he proved to be very obliging hopping about quite close.

I was driving through Mindrum, which is a small hamlet in the Scottish Borders near to Kelso and Coldstream, I was on the look out for hares again, but the high wing was keeping them low in the grass and they where difficult to see never ming photograph. I noticed a pair of red legged partridge. So I crawled along the hedgerow to get a decent view of them. They came quite close eventually as I lay ful length under the hathorn hedge and managed to get some decent pictures……. I hope you agree.
