I have just been informed the my image of Herring Gull with Guillemot Chic has been awarded 3rd place in the Wildlife and Nature Awards. I entered three images and all three made it through to the finals. Waxwing
The winning picture was my image of waxwing on a sorbus tree. The picture won the best Scottish Wildlife picture and then went up against the winners of the other categories: Scottish Landscape, Natural Abstract and Environmental, and won the best picture giving me the title "Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year 2010."January 2011

Herring Gull with Guillemot
The picture was taken on the Farne Islands in Northumberland. The herring gull was circling the guillemot colonies looking for an easy meal. It circle around three time before swooping into the colony and emerging with this guillemot chick. I think it is a very poignant picture with the guillemots looking onMay 2009
